Field note
What belongs on a monthly headcount pack for Yau Tsim Mong offices
Monthly packs fail when every chart from the HR system is pasted in. For most mid-size offices, five views are enough: opening and closing headcount, joiners and leavers, net movement by department, tenure mix, and open roles that stayed open beyond an agreed threshold.
Annotate known events. A warehouse expansion or a contract end should appear as a short caption under the movement chart so leaders do not invent stories during the meeting.
Use one glossary page. Terms such as contingent worker, intern, and seconded staff need a sentence each. Ambiguity here is the usual reason finance and HR disagree in the room.
Print or PDF packs still matter for some board rooms in Hong Kong. Design for both screen and paper: high contrast, limited colour coding, and labels that survive greyscale printing.
Close each pack with three questions for the next cycle rather than a long recommendations essay. Questions keep the meeting oriented toward decisions.
